on the clock.
We come to you.

Sending one employee to a collection site costs you most of a shift. Elite Screening Solutions brings a qualified collector to your yard, plant, terminal or office, runs the collection under full federal chain of custody, and leaves without stopping your day.

The real cost

A drug test is cheap. Losing a shift to one is not.

Most employers price testing by the panel and never price the hours around it. Drive time, waiting room time, the second trip when the clinic is backed up, and the employee who does not come back to the job that afternoon.

Move the collection to your site and almost all of that disappears. The employee steps away from the line for fifteen minutes and goes back to work. Put your own numbers in and see what the current arrangement is costing you over a year.

  • No mileage reimbursement for trips to a collection site
  • No supervisor time spent chasing down who did and did not go
  • No second appointment when someone cannot produce a specimen
  • Post-accident collections start when we arrive, not when a clinic opens

Chain of custody

Seven stages. Every one of them documented.

A drug test result is only worth what the procedure behind it can survive. If a collection is challenged in a hearing, an arbitration or a lawsuit, what gets examined is the chain of custody, not the laboratory. Here is exactly what happens to a specimen from the moment we arrive, and the federal rule behind each stage.

01

Collector arrives at your site

A qualified collector comes to your yard, plant, terminal or office at a scheduled window. A private restroom or a quiet room is all the space we need. Your employee walks down the hall instead of driving across town.

02

Identity confirmed, belongings secured

Photo identification is checked and recorded. Coats, bags and anything in the pockets stay outside the collection area. Water sources are secured and bluing agent goes in the bowl before anyone steps in.

03

Specimen provided and sealed in view

The employee never leaves the collector's sight with an unsealed specimen. The container is handed straight back, and the seals are signed and dated by the employee, not by us.

04

Volume and temperature verified

The collector confirms at least 45 mL of urine and reads the temperature strip within four minutes. The acceptable range is 90 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Anything outside it is documented on the spot and triggers a second collection under direct observation.

05

Custody and control form completed

The federal chain of custody form is filled out step by step, the specimen identification number is matched to the bottle labels, and every person who handles the sample from that point forward signs for it.

06

Sealed transport to a certified laboratory

The sealed specimen travels in a tamper evident bag to a laboratory certified by the Department of Health and Human Services. Screening runs first, and anything that screens positive is confirmed by mass spectrometry before it means anything at all.

07

Medical review officer verifies the result

A licensed physician acting as Medical Review Officer reviews every non-negative result and contacts the employee directly to ask whether there is a legitimate medical explanation. Only then does a verified result reach your desk.

What we collect

Every collection type a North Carolina employer is likely to need.

If a service is not listed here, it is worth asking. We coordinate a wider network of laboratory and occupational services than we perform in the field ourselves.

01

DOT drug and alcohol testing

Pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, return to duty and follow-up collections performed to 49 CFR Part 40 for FMCSA, FAA, FRA, FTA, PHMSA and Coast Guard regulated employers.

02

Non-DOT workplace testing

Company policy testing on 5, 10 and 12 panel configurations, expanded opiate panels, and hair follicle testing when you need a longer detection window than urine can give you.

03

Alcohol testing

Evidential breath testing performed on site by a trained technician, with confirmation testing at the 0.02 and 0.04 thresholds the regulations turn on, plus EtG testing where a longer window is required.

04

Random testing programs and consortium management

Pool administration, defensible random selection, quarterly draws, notification protocol and the annual documentation that satisfies an FMCSA audit without a scramble.

05

DNA and paternity testing

Legally admissible testing with full chain of custody for family court, immigration and estate matters, alongside informational testing for families who simply want to know.

06

Fingerprinting and background screening

Ink card and electronic fingerprint capture for professional licensing, employment, adoption and court requirements, with background screening coordinated alongside it.

Why employers move

Most testing vendors are a clinic with a waiting room.

National chains sell you an address and a set of opening hours. The moment your driver is two counties away, or your accident happens at seven in the evening, that address stops being useful.

We are built the other way around. The collector travels, the schedule bends toward your operation, and the person answering the phone knows your account rather than routing you through a national queue.

North Carolina employers

State law sets rules that federal testing does not.

The Controlled Substance Examination Regulation Act, at G.S. 95-230 through 95-235, governs how private employers in North Carolina test current and prospective employees. It is short, it is specific, and a surprising number of employers have never read it.

It requires an approved laboratory, confirmation of positive results by mass spectrometry, retention of positive samples for at least 90 days, and a written procedure for chain of custody. It also gives the employee a right to have a confirmed positive sample retested. Violations carry a civil penalty of up to $250 per affected examinee.

DOT regulated testing is exempt from this Article. If you run both DOT and company policy testing, the two programs follow different rules and should be documented separately.
