For employers & safety managers
Testing that fits around your operation, not the other way around.
Whether you run fourteen drivers or four hundred, the job is the same: keep the program defensible, keep people working, and be able to produce the paperwork on the day someone asks for it. We handle the collections and the records. You keep the shift running.
Where employers get caught
The program is rarely the problem. The paperwork is.
Almost every employer we meet is testing. Far fewer can lay their hands on a complete file when an auditor, an attorney or an unemployment hearing asks for one.
The gaps are predictable. A random selection that cannot be shown to be genuinely random. A post-accident test collected outside the window. A supervisor who sent someone for reasonable suspicion testing without any record of what was observed. A policy that has not been updated since the company had six employees.
None of that is exotic. It is the ordinary result of running a testing program in the gaps between everything else you do. We take the parts that create the exposure and make them somebody's actual job.
What we run for you
Six collection types, one point of contact.
These are the six DOT test types. Non-DOT programs usually use a subset of the same list, defined by your own written policy rather than by federal rule.
Pre-employment
Collected after a conditional offer and before the employee performs any safety sensitive function. For DOT covered drivers this pairs with a full Clearinghouse query, which requires the driver's specific consent.
Random
Drawn from a managed pool using a genuinely random method. FMCSA employers currently test at a minimum annual rate of 50 percent for controlled substances and 10 percent for alcohol.
Post-accident
Time critical. Under FMCSA rules alcohol testing should occur within eight hours and controlled substance testing within thirty two hours. We dispatch to the scene or the yard rather than asking you to find an open clinic.
Reasonable suspicion
Triggered by a trained supervisor's direct observation of appearance, behaviour, speech or body odour. The observation must be documented. We provide the form and the collection.
Return to duty
Follows completion of the return to duty process with a Substance Abuse Professional. Always collected under direct observation, and never optional before the employee resumes safety sensitive work.
Follow-up
An unannounced schedule set by the Substance Abuse Professional, separate from and in addition to random testing. We track the schedule so it does not quietly lapse.
Supervisor training
You cannot send someone for reasonable suspicion testing on a hunch.
FMCSA requires that every person designated to supervise drivers receives at least 60 minutes of training on alcohol misuse and a further 60 minutes on controlled substances use.
That training exists so the decision to test rests on specific, contemporaneous, articulable observations rather than on a supervisor's instinct. It is also the first thing an attorney asks about when a reasonable suspicion test is challenged.
If you cannot put your hand on training records for every supervisor who might make that call, that is a gap worth closing before you need it.
Document at the time, not afterwards
A defensible reasonable suspicion record notes what was observed, who observed it, and when. Written the same day, not reconstructed later.
- Appearance, behaviour, speech, body odour
- Time and location of the observation
- Name and training date of the observing supervisor
- Time the employee was removed from safety sensitive duty
Industries we collect for
If the work is safety sensitive, we have probably been on a site like yours.
Different sectors fail in different places. Trucking struggles with random rates and Clearinghouse queries. Construction struggles with post-accident timing. Manufacturing struggles with shift coverage. We plan around whichever one is yours.
Trucking and transport
FMCSA regulated carriers, owner operators needing consortium membership, and fleets that cannot afford a driver spending half a day at a clinic.
Construction and trades
Multi employee collections at the site rather than staggered clinic appointments, and post-accident response that does not wait for morning.
Manufacturing and warehousing
Shift based operations where releasing people mid shift is expensive, and where the whole crew can be collected in a single visit.
Logistics and distribution
Dock and yard operations with mixed DOT and non-DOT populations, where the two programs need to be documented separately.
Staffing and temporary labour
High volume pre-employment screening with fast turnaround, run at your branch on the days you onboard.
Government and public sector
Municipal fleets, transit operations and contractors working under a drug free workplace requirement.
Getting started
Setting up an account takes one conversation.
There is no onboarding project here. We need to know who is covered, what rules you fall under, and where your people actually are.
- Tell us what you run. DOT, non-DOT, or both. How many people are covered and where they work.
- We confirm the right panel and rules. DOT testing follows Part 40. Non-DOT testing follows your written policy and North Carolina law.
- We schedule the first visit. Whole crew or single collection, at your site.
- Results and records reach you. Verified by a Medical Review Officer, filed so you can produce them later.
| DOT program | Non-DOT program | |
|---|---|---|
| Governing rules | 49 CFR Part 40 | Your policy + NC G.S. 95-230 |
| Panel | Federally fixed | You choose, 5 to 12 |
| Random rate | Set by the agency | Set by your policy |
| MRO review | Required | Strongly recommended |
| Sample retention | Per Part 40 | 90 days minimum in NC |
| Employee retest right | Split specimen | Yes, at their expense |
Non-DOT testing in North Carolina is governed by the Controlled Substance Examination Regulation Act. DOT testing is exempt from that Article.

Tell us how many people you cover and where they work.
We will come back with the right program shape, a collection window and a straight price. If a fixed clinic genuinely suits you better, we will say so.
